The Oracle Applications Database Administrator is responsible for performing Oracle ERP Applications and Database Administration within E-Business Suite to ensure continuous 24x7 operation and availability in support of mission critical business applications within team structure and compliance requirements. The Oracle DBA will have a challenging position with the responsibility for day to day Oracle database administration in a variety of Unix based environments. This position will also be involved in installing, maintaining and updating Oracle databases and Oracle based technologies for several Oracle applications. The Oracle Applications DBA will be responsible for the overall Oracle systems architecture concerning databases and computing environments from the client to middle tiers to database servers, including systems integration. The responsibilities of this position consist of both operational and application support including backup/recovery, monitoring, problem identification and remediation, DB server tuning, query and application optimization and tuning, close interaction with and best practice guidance to Oracle developers. This position will function as both production and development DBA. Working with the management team establishes strategies and priorities for the overall enterprise by analyzing and understanding the current and future database and applications needs in order to formulate and recommend technology plans to keep pace with the business demands.
Provide development and/or production DBA support. This includes creating primary database storage structures, designing and creating primary objects, modifying database structure as necessary for enhancements or performance, creating documentation, designing interfaces, database objects, and creating plans.
•Monitor and optimize performance of the database, plan for backup and recovery of the database, and allocate system storage and plan future storage requirements.
• Create database-related scripts and programs to support development and production environments.
• Research, evaluate, design, test, recommend, and plan implementation of new or improved RDBMS, ETL and database tools.
• Develop and maintain security controls for all databases, and performance tuning to Oracle 11i e-Business Suite.
•Contribute to strategic direction of DBA work activities and projects.
•Controls and monitors user access to databases and maintains systems security within the Oracle eBusiness Suite model.
•Monitors and optimizes the performance of database, SQL and PL/SQL code with developers.
•Assists in the development of disaster recovery and fail over plans.
•Ensures all data can be recovered in the event of systems failures.
.Install, configure, and maintains Oracle based technologies, Oracle RDBMS, Oracle Developer Forms and Reports, Oracle Internet Application Server.
•Perform database and application server upgrade and patch management.
••Plan, upgrade and test Oracle technologies and associated applications.
•Ensure continuous 24x7 operation and availability of ERP business systems and all interfaced systems.
•Plan and coordinate application and database changes, installation of upgrades, patches and new versions, interacting with Development, Business Process Owners and Infrastructure teams.
•Develop, document and enforce application database standards and procedures.
•Develop DB and ERP infrastructure testing plans.
••Coordinate database cloning, schema, and table level data refreshes with business and support staff.
•Write/maintain OS level scripts (i.e., UNIX shell) for system DB maintenance.
•Work with cross project teams to resolve technical performance issues/bottlenecks (e.g., network, storage, application).
•Provide on-call support.
REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications
• Must be comfortable in matrix management environments and work effectively with others in managing complex projects.
• Previous experience implementing and supporting Oracle eBusiness Suite Applications and CRM modules.
• Proven experience supporting relational databases as a DBA, with a depth and focus in Oracle and related tools.
• Exposure and practice at using the DBMS to optimize performance of large databases for enterprise use is preferred.
• Experience with an organization with a key 24 X 7 reliance on its database.
• Experience with configuration of Oracle e-Business Stack 11.5.10/9iAS/10gDB in a multi-tier RAC environment.
• Strong skills with all Oracle "ad" tools and utilities for managing Oracle Applications.
• Experience with Disaster Recovery design, implementation and testing using DataGuard or other DR replication tools
• Experience with PL/SQL and database concepts.
• Experience with UNIX/LINUX/AIX configuration, remote boot, monitoring and logging.
• Experience with UNIX/LINUX/AIX trouble shooting and security.
• Strong UNIX/LINUX/AIX OS and scripting skills.
• Strong DB and Applications performance tuning and trouble shooting skills.
• Experience with Backup/Restore Tools
• Experience with SAN and Replication tools such as EMC, BCV and SRDF
• Excellent communication skills.
• Experience with Monitoring Tools such as OEM, Mercury Interactive, Quest, etc. a plus.
• EMC SAN integration is a plus
• Experience with 10g Grid control is a plus
• Must have thorough knowledge of Oracle Workflow and be able to write, review and troubleshoot SQL and Unix scripts.
• Must have extensive experience Installing, cloning, patching and upgrading Oracle 11i.
• Must have thorough knowledge of Oracle 11i configuration as well as Oracle setup in a load-balanced environment.
• Must be familiar with database failover configurations and implementation.
• Must be able to work on multiple projects simultaneously, meet project deadlines and work under pressure.
• Proficiency writing PL/SQL procedures, functions and packages for administration and application support need.
• Unix shell scripting.
• Excellent communication/customer service skills. Ability to understand others and clearly express thoughts.
• Ability to provide On-call support
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in computer science, information systems, math or a related
field with 10-15 years experience related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
10 years Oracle DBA experience that includes at least three years Oracle 11i Apps DBA experience
• Proven track record in managing and tuning highly available 24X7 Oracle databases.
