REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications:
- Demonstrated skills in managing, organization and effective communication are essential. Prior CVB experience a plus.- Ability to develop the organization’s marketing plan and budget.- Thorough understanding of destination brand development and execution. -- Thorough understanding of destination website marketing with ability to conceptualize and develop an e-marketing strategy.- Comprehensive knowledge of all strategic leisure and group destination marketing activities.- Ability to develop and interpret destination research programs and work with selected suppliers.- Understanding of leisure and group strategic advertising planning and execution.- Maintains national, regional, state and local profile in travel industry through associations, committees and marketing cooperatives; travels and participates in Bureau sales promotions and exhibits.- Ability to visualize and create a wide variety of collateral programs with outside vendors.- Experience in CVB membership/partnership development.- Ability to be sensitive to community and hospitality industry concerns.- Ability to work in a collaborative environment.- Develops cooperative opportunities in which Bureau members can participate, such as advertising, trade, consumer shows and conventions.- Develops and implements incentive programs and familiarization tours, targeting travel agents, tour operators, wholesalers, and receptive service operators; creates and oversees maintenance of a database of these individuals.- Manages and directs the tourism partnership program; instills a sense of collective energy within tourism community; ensures that the group is proactive, effective and is playing a role in developing tourism sales for the area.- Creates an integrated approach for travel writers, editors and media; may author articles on tourism at the destination as requested by media and publishers.- Implements systems to provide literature and photos to auto clubs, travel-related offices and companies, airline offices and other travel-related organizations on a regular basis.- Promotes the destination by participating in major industry trade shows and conferences- Maintains ongoing support and dialog with all groups/committees related to tourism development; represents Bureau at industry board and committees, including state organizations, WACVB, DMAI, ABA, NTA, TIA, SATW, etc; actively participates with the state tourism office.Participates and designs research projects; analyzes industry trends in the group, international and consumer markets that assist in meeting the Bureau's marketing objectives.- Communicates sales leads to all members.- Provides appropriate support for the local or state television/film office, including monthly reports, development of collateral, fulfillment and permitting if necessary.
Requirements:
- Four-year degree from an academic institution in marketing, business or tourism.- Five to ten years experience in the travel trade industry, plus experience in tourism promotion management- Computer Skills: Word processing, Spreadsheets, E-mail, Database software, Contact Management, Web site software- Excellent interpersonal, writing and communications skills. Able to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors- Creative and detail-oriented- Experience in coordinating and administering multi-projects simultaneously- Able and willing to travel frequently- Physical Demands: must be able to lift a minimum of 70 lbs.
