Culinary Specialist

As part of this occupational specialty, you could:



Serve as food service specialist on Admirals’ staffs and for the Commanding Officer at shore bases

Prepare menus and keep records and financial budgets for food supplies

Operate kitchen and dining facilities (also known as “galleys”)

Operate and manage living quarters on shoreAdvanced Training & Certification
Reservists in this specialty receive both hands-on and classroom training in areas such as nutrition, dining, and entertainment services and teamwork. Because of the Navy Reserve’s need for detail-minded, people-oriented professionals with a love for the art of cooking, the opportunity for placement in this field is excellent.

Your training might also prepare you to be, or enhance your current career as, a hotel or food and beverage service manager, lodging facilities manager, restaurant and hotel baker, or nightclub manager.

Some of your formal and on-the-job training will transfer to college credit hours toward an associate’s or bachelor’s degree.
