The Therapist provides assessment, diagnosis, individualized treatment planning and high-quality, cost-effective psychotherapy and related services to patients with Mental Health and/or AODA problems. The Therapist works within their Scope of Practice, while applying relevant standards of clinical care and professional ethics. Provides services in a manner that reinforces behavioral health care as a part of Gundersen Lutheran's approach to working with patients to achieve the best possible level of medical, mental and emotional health.Other key functions of the position include: Coordinates interdisciplinary care and related services across the Department, Organization and communities. Takes initiative and applies teamwork principles in efforts to improve the clinical, administrative and financial aspects of practice. Achieves departmental standards related to clinical care, compliance and accreditation. Supports Departmental goals and strategies.Clinically directed by Medical Director of the Department through the Medical Director of the Section; clinically supervised by assigned medical staff; administratively managed by the Clinical Manager of the Section.Education/Learning Experience
Required: Masters Degree in Social Work, Professional Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy or other mental health discipline from a program based on a clinical curriculum that meets State of Wisconsin Licensure and Provider Status Approval requirements for the position. Wisconsin Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor certification may be additional requirement, based on the needs of the Section. Must be eligible to obtain a State of Wisconsin license and, if applicable, CADC certification at the date of hire.Work Experience
Required: Minimum of 3,000 hours of supervised post graduate mentalhealth treatment of populations to be served. Previous work experience with specific patient populations or treatment modalities, as required for particular positions (i.e., eating disorders, cognitive behavioral therapy).
Desired: Previous experience within a hospital, medical group or integrated health care system.Skills/Knowledge
Required: Knowledgeable in assessment, DSM-IV diagnosis, treatment planning, psychotherapy and coordination of care. Skilled in teamwork, time management, communication; skilled in completing clinically-appropriate and timely documentation; able to deal with a broad range of patient behaviors and attitudes and provide assertive, therapeutic feedback in a clinically-effective and supportive manner; and able to comply with provider-specific code of ethics and relevant departmental, organizational, State, Federal and JCAHO regulations and standards.Licenses/Certifications
Required: Eligible for State of Wisconsin Licensure and, as applicable, CADC Certification. Eligible for licensure/certification on the date of hire to practice in the State of Wisconsin or other location, as applicable.
