Working under the supervision from the Principal Investigator provides support to the BWH Transgenic Core Facility. May be responsible for the following activities: 1) Perform gene targeting in embryonic stem cells, 2) Maintain embryonic stem cell stocks and develops new procedures for embryonic stem cell lines, 3) Maintain everyday lab managerial responsibilities. Interacts with investigators and organizes core gene targeting projects under the supervision of the PI.Performs very specialized embryonic stem cell culture experiments.Oversees organization of embryonic stem cell stocks and quality control of the embryonic stem cells.Prepares and quality controls embryonic feeder and other reagents needed for embryonic stem cell cultureWorks with PI and lab members to develop new research protocols for gene targeting in embryonic stem cells.Maintains careful records of gene targeting experiments.Maintains equipment necessary for embryonic stem cell workInteracts with investigators on gene targeting projects.Teaching fellows techniques for gene targeting in embryonic stem cells.Orders supplies and maintains supply inventory for embryonic stem cell core facility.Assists PI and fellows with analyses of gene targeting experiments.Maintains established department policies, procedures and objectives, including the areas of quality assurance, safety, environmental and infection control.Performs all other duties and responsibilities as directed.
REQUIREMENTS
BS or BABackground in biology. Laboratory experience in cell culture techniques required and molecular biology preferred.Ability to work efficiently under the supervision of the PI or designee.Excellent interpersonal skills are required for working with the members of the research team.Good oral and written communication skills..Excellent organizational skills.A careful attention to detail.Ability to demonstrate professionalism and respect for other colleagues.
