Spanish interpreters are responsible for assessing the needs of non-English speaking patients and providing assistance by interpreting procedures, consent forms and any other patient related information. He/she will be responsible for contacting and providing an interpreter for the requested language when possible.
REQUIREMENTS
Bachelors Degree with a concentration in a human relations field (i.e. Sociology, Psychology) highly preferable. At least 2 years of college level education and 2 years of hospital and/or health care related experience preferably in a position of direct patient contact. Sound knowledge of English, both written and verbal, and if possible, one or more languages. Basic medical terminology. Knowledge of cultured diversity. We prefer applicants who have completed a Medical Interpreting Certificate course.
