Social Worker (Temporary)

This position is located at Gillette Children’s Specialty Healthcare, a 60-bed hospital and clinic in St. Paul, Minn. This is a temporary position for November and December 2006. Assist patients and families in dealing with the impact of illness, disability and episodes of care in the hospital or a clinic in achieving maximum benefit from resources at Gillette and in the community. The scope of services includes, psychosocial assessment, counseling, education, discharge planning and information and referral. Hours are 8-4:30, 28 hours/week. REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications: BSW or MSW in Social Work. Licensed by the MN Board of Social Work (minimum LSW/BSW or LGSW/MSW). Ability to work on an interdisciplinary team. Interviewing and counseling skills and the ability to conduct psychosocial assessments and interventions in a condensed time frame. Ability to establish positive rapport. Knowledge of psychosocial development across the life span, of emotional and social impacts of disability and illness, of community resources related to pediatric health care and disability disorders, of mandated reporting obligations and laws and of financial systems and services related to payer sources. Prior experience in hospital or health care social work preferred.
