Senior Recreation Coordinator

To develop and implement recreational activities for the Family Support Recreation Program. Research and plan activities for all day habilitation and family support recreation/respite programs. Coordinate all Special Olympics for HARC Day and Clinical Services Program consumers inclusive of Family Support and Waiver Day Habilitation programs. Act as the liaison between Special Olympics programs and HARC consumers and families. Develop schedules of activities for all recreational programs within the Family Support and Waiver Day Habilitation programs in collaboration with the Habilitation Supervisor. Identify individual’s recreational needs through individual recreation survey on a yearly basis and implement the results in recreation planning for the year. Plan recreational activities for waiver Day Habilitation by utilizing the program plans of each individual and in consultation with the families and consumer individual treatment team. Project a professional positive image of the Agency to the community thus serving as a bridge between the community and the individual. Integrate service delivery into the community in a functional, participatory program using group or individualized activities. Train staff in the purpose and function of Recreation Therapy and therapeutic goals as they pertain to individual goals. Research the implementation of new therapeutic activities and methodologies to stimulate a constant, creative and positive approach to day hab and family support recreation programs. Monitor completed activities and events to determine interest and value to participants as well as its outcome with respect to the goals of the recreational services of HARC, especially in the areas of choice and individualization. Organize and coordinate special events such as choral dates, Special Olympics, etc. Provide quarterly report to the Assistant Director of Clinical Services regarding the utilization of scheduled events and their effects on goals.
REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s Degree in Recreation, Therapeutic Rec or related field plus one (1) year experience in the recreation field. Must have Agency approved driver’s license and have a working vehicle and be willing to use personal vehicle for work. Must be able to assist in lifting and transferring.
