Pharmacy Practice News, a print and web-based publication sent to nearly 50,000 hospital pharmacists in the United States, seeks a senior editor to join the No. 1-read newsmagazine in its field.Pharmacy Practice News covers emerging policy, technology, operational and clinical issues affecting hospital pharmacy practice. Articles offer a timely mix of scientific meeting coverage, monthly features and columns by key opinion leaders.The Senior Editor works in conjunction with the Editorial Director on the assigning, writing and editing of 25-30 articles per month.Responsibilities include:
• Tracking news wires, Pubmed abstracts and other news sources
• Assigning articles to, and managing, freelance writers
• Fact-checking and editing
• Posting articles to the Web• On-site coverage of pharmacy/scientific meetings
• Working closely with the Art and Copy Departments to close the issue each monthThe ideal candidate will possess:
• A background in the life sciences and at least 5 years of experience as a medical editor or writer.
• Top-notch news judgment
• Superior writing and editing skills
• A passion for clear, concise newspaper-style prose
• An understanding of medical statistics and study-data interpretation
• Strong page-proof tracking and production skills
