Retail Business Manager, Healthcare Shop
The Advance Healthcare Shop for Gear, Gadgets and Gifts (http://shop.advanceweb.com) is seeking a business/merchandising manager. Our healthcare shop is multi-channel, with presence online and in person through our participation at healthcare events such as conferences, meetings, and job fairs. Healthcare professionals attend these events, where they can purchase our apparel, accessories, gifts, and more. Our high quality, name-brand products feature unique healthcare logos custom-made for the professions we serve.

Do you think you know why we have a traveling retail booth at job fairs, continuing education events, and tradeshows for the healthcare professionals?
What type of apparel, gifts, and gadgets would you plan to bring to a Job Fair for Nurses? Or a Job Fair for Physical Therapists? How would you display them?
Interested in knowing what our top selling products are in our traveling retail shop and online shop?
Do you have the passion to research market trends and apply your results to optimize our sales in our healthcare retail shop?
How do you know what your retail customers want?
What type of signage would you use? How may people would you staff in the booth? Why would you have models displaying certain items?
DESCRIPTION
This is a hands-on position where you’ll manage all of the details for our Shop appearances on the road from our corporate office. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Merchandising:
As a merchandiser, this individual will achieve volume and profit objectives in the road show retail shop by planning, developing and selecting merchandise. This position will have responsibility for generating general and specific event plans and assortment strategies to maximize opportunities to grow the business.
Determine the best product mix for each event by analyzing event demographics, historical sales, market data, current available products, and Shop merchandising/marketing strategies
Determine the appropriate inventory levels for the chosen product mix
Ensure correct pricing for events, including special event-only markdowns or incentives
Oversee logistics including shipment and return of booth, supplies, inventory
Business Management:
In addition, the position will have responsibility for managing the financial components of the business effectively to react to trends and seize opportunity throughout the event schedule. This individual will perform competitive analysis, monitor the sales plan and report on performance, manage receipt flow, and improve the customer experience.
Determine the appropriate staff for each event, monitor staff performance, and provide ongoing training for booth Shop Managers
Ensure correct pricing for events, including special event-only markdowns or incentives
Oversee logistics including shipment and return of booth, supplies, inventory
Monitor sales results and develop and implement strategies to increase on an event-by-event basis
Participate in planogram design and ensure complete, correct implementation of planograms
Oversee all procedures and policies related to the shop at events including payment, shrinkage, security, and inventory maintenance
Our shop is enjoying remarkable growth and you’ll have a direct impact on that success and the opportunity to grow with us. Our sales at job fair events alone are on track to grow 100% over 2005!
So far in 2006, our Shop has traveled to almost 60 events, ranging from 1-day job fairs and local meetings to multi-day national healthcare conferences.
REQUIREMENTS
College degree preferred
Minimum of 3 years of merchandising, retail/inventory control and/or business management experience
Proven retail business and marketing savvy
Strong analytical skills: retail financial acumen
Sense of urgency and dedicated work ethic
Proficient computer skills, especially Microsoft Excel
Ability to multi-task and prioritize wisely
Ability to function well in a dynamic environment
Ability to work cross functionally with other department personnel
Some travel necessary in the beginning to understand the events process, but this position will work out of our corporate office.
