La Palma Hospital is a 141 Bed facility with 495 employees.
Patients are cared for in a variety of inpatient and outpatient settings. Our services not only focus on the treatment of existing conditions, but also on preventive medicine for the entire family.

As part of this partner ship, we have adopted initiatives designed to make life healthier, simpler and less intimidating.POSITION SUMMARY Responsible for routine and emergency hyperbaric treatments for various types of patients seen by this service including critically ill patients, in accordance with accepted protocols. Also provides care on an emergency basis. Responsible for providing care at the surface (sea level) as well as monitoring the patient while ascending and descending to a depth of 3 ATA. Responsible for all patient care as it pertains to hyperbaric medicine ie performing otoscopic exams, Patient teaching, all monitoring of patient including blood glucose prior to performing a dive on insulin dependent patients, quality assurance, timely record keeping, and the safe operation of the chamber. Consults with all medical staff members as it pertains to all patient care and hyperbarics.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS:Work is of medium to high physical demand, walking and standing most of the time on duty; frequent lifting/pulling equipment weighing up to 50 lbs; lifting/transporting patients minimal assistance; frequent reaching and handling of instruments and equipment when attending to patient needs; dexterity required for treatments, splinting and vital signs, and other duties; administration of medications; works inside; varied temperature changes; contact with water/liquids; subject to noise and vibrations; hazards include exposure to blood and body fluids, sharp objects and instruments, assorted chemicals as listed in the MSDS manual; frequent contact with fumes, odors and exposure to vapors, mists and liquids; uses personal protective equipment. In this position, occupational exposure to communicable diseases and blood/bloodborne pathogens requires the use of personal protective equipment to include gloves, gowns, goggles, masks and radiation measuring devices, when in the clinical setting.MINIMUM EDUCATION: PREFERRED EDUCATION: Graduate of hyperbarics program and state licensed as a RN, LVN, RCP and or CHT. MINIMUM EXPERIENCE: Must have performed a minimum of 50 dives independently in an acute care facility. PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: Recent Critical care experience, strong interpersonal skills, able to communicate at all levels of care providers. REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURE: Current professional licensure by the relevant state board, current BCLS and ACLS. Trained in Hyperbaric medicineREQUIRED COURSE(S) TRAINING: PREFERRED CERTIFICATIONS/REGISTRATION: SPECIAL SKILLS: Strong interpersonal skills to interact positively and effectively with patients, visitors and physicians. SUPERVISES: PHYSICAL DEMANDS/REQUIREMENTS: *1 years Wound Care/ Hyperbaric experience *Current Credentials *Current BLS
