Hartford Hospital is an acute care hospital, located in the south end of Hartford Connecticut. The Hospital came into being in 1854 when a catastrophic explosion created the need to treat the many injured. In 1994, The Institute of Living, a psychiatric hospital founded in 1822, became the Mental Health Division of Hartford Hospital.

Hours: FT 40 hours.Provides clinical expertise in all aspects of Respiratory Care with focus on promoting growth and development of health care team members, enhancing quality, cost-effective care and promoting interdisciplinary collaboration to achieve patient, health care team, departmental and organizational goals. Performs all functions of the Respiratory Care Practitioner role and is recognized as a clinical expert/resource in all aspects of Respiratory Care. Coordinates performance improvement initiatives to address identified Respiratory and health care team goals and outcomes and integrates them throughout the team, department and multidisciplinary teams. Acts as respiratory team facilitator, identifying performance opportunities and goals for professional growth and development of team members by participating in the performance management process providing constructive feedback, input, and mentoring; monitoring employee performance improvement and education initiatives and encouraging and promoting continuing education, committee membership and special projects. Integrates performance opportunities and goals with the department, health care team and collaborative management teams, in order to continually improve the quality of patient care. Serves as liaison to the Health Care Teams on all respiratory related patient care issues and care plans and facilitates flow of information from Collaborative Management Teams, Health Care Teams and committees to members of Self Directed Work Teams and the Leadership Team.As a teaching hospital, Hartford Hospital is a primary affiliate of the University of Connecticut School of Medicine and Dentistry for both graduate and undergraduate medical education.

REQUIREMENTS
Associate's degree in Respiratory Care from American Medical Association approved program required. 3 years post-graduate clinical experience required. Bachelor's degree preferred. Must obtain Bachelors Degree within 3 years. Eligible for State of CT Respiratory Care Practitioner license. Registered by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC). Active member of the American Association of Respiratory Care (AARC). Experience with Microsoft office. Read, speak, write English, Excellent interpersonal skills.
