Research Nurse II

Position recruits and enrolls research subjects in clinical trials and research projects. Responsible for coordination of all aspects of assigned study. Must ensure adherence to all applicable guidelines of FDA, NCI, IRB, OHRP, OCR, GCP, Research Privacy Board and sponsor protocols.Key Responsibilities:
-Recruits potential subjects for participation in clinical research trials. This includes posting flyers, advertisements, giving seminars and other activities required to generate interest in participation in research.
-Screens potential subjects for eligibility in research trials, based on inclusion and exclusion criteria, and determines suitability for participation, i.e. estimates whether they have the ability or capability to participate, and if they would be compliant with the trial design, etc.
-Obtains informed consent from those subjects able and willing to participate. At times this may include obtaining consent from family members or other legal guardian(s) if the subject is unable to provide informed consent.-Instructs research subjects on the purpose of the study, the activities, tests, medications or procedures that will be required to be completed and the timeline for the study. At times Clinical Research Nurse Coordinator may draw blood samples. Answers questions participants may have throughout the study.
-Monitors and follows research subjects through their participation in the trial to completion. Collects and gathers data, completes paperwork or other forms that may be required.
-Interacts with institutional review board, regulatory agencies, pharmaceutical manufacturers or other organizations as may be required for successful completion of the research trial.-Provides ongoing updates and progress reports to investigators of the study, including collecting and monitoring data, notifying investigators of problems or issues, checking on progress and wellbeing of research subjects and overall direction of the research study.Palmetto Health offers competitive salaries, excellent benefits and a rewarding work environment. REQUIREMENTS
Education: BSN preferredExperience: At lease five years nursing experienceLicensure, Registry or Certification Required: RN license in state of South Carolina, valid SC drivers license and insuranceSpecial Training: Prior experience or training in clinical research helpful. Must have excellent computer skills. Must complete Human Protection training and handling of hazardous materials training. Must work toward CCRP status.
