Shft: NightsJob Description:Provides for the assessment and evaluation of the appropriateness and effectiveness of diagnostic testing based on patients age, cognitive and physical abilities, and/or developmental needs. Is responsible for communication to the physician of pertinent patient data. Initiates and monitors overnight testing procedures in accordance with American Academy of Sleep Medicine. Communicates a professional attitude with patients, visitors and other hospital personnel. Practices strict ethical enforcement of protected medical and employee confidentiality. Assists coordinator with quality assurance programs for the department and makes recommendations as needed. Operates in full compliance with organizationss safety program. Responds to all emergency preparedness situations as appropriate. Utilizes standard precaution and assures units equipment is ready for safe operation. Performs duties in documented accordance with requirement of all regulating/governing bodies.Experience: Registered Respiratory Therapist, Registered Polysomnographic Technologist or Registered EEG technologists.Education/Licensure: Graduate of an AMA approved school of Respiratory Therapy.
Registered as a Respiratory Therapist (RRT) or a Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT). Current RCP licensure in the State of Nebraska. BLS (Basic Life Support) provider course completed ACLS (Advanced Life Support) preferred.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Must possess strong knowledge and skill in Respiratory Therapy procedures; understands and performs the complex procedures and special activities which occur within the Sleep Labs; ability to competently assess and recommend respiratory therapy procedures according to Alegent policies and procedures, ability to provide day to day work direction, orientation and training to other staff members. Must possess knowledge of how to provide care to a diverse population of patients and the ability to communicate and work with people from a variety of age-groups, social strata and ethnic backgrounds.
