Rad Tech (Mammography)

Shift: 1st ShiftSummary: Day shift - weekends as needed. Radiology is performed on any or all body organs, systems, or structures involving general radiographic procedures. Must understand the principles and operations of fluoroscopy (both digital and non-digital), general radiology (with or without tomography) and the use of portable equipment. Must understand the utilization, principles, appropriateness and associated risk of using imaging contrast media. Position requires clear communication skills, an understanding of healthcare operations and quality control along with the work ethics that coincide with Blue Ridge Healthcare System’s Mission, Vision and Values. Must be able to demonstrate knowledge of principles of growth and development of the life span and possess the ability to assess and interpret data to identify the patient’s age-related requirements and specific needs. Performs other duties requested of the director as necessary.
REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications: Education: Completion of an accredited radiology program Experience: None required, however preference will be given to applicants with at least one year experience post registry; Prefer mammography experience and certification. License/Registration: Registered (or registry eligible) with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist. Current CPR certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) is required Other: Considerable knowledge of procedures and equipment. Skills in applying knowledge of anatomy and positions to produce good quality films. TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS: : Requires full range of body motion, including handling/lifting patients, manual/finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination. Requires corrected vision/hearing to normal range. Requires standing/walking for extensive periods of time with bending, stooping/stretching. Frequently lift/carry patients and/or items weighing 50 lbs or more. TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS: Requires working under stressful conditions and working irregular hours, frequent exposure to communicable diseases and bodily fluids, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, medicinal preparations and other conditions common to a hospital environment.
