Sutter Medical Center, Sacramento has two acute care hospital campuses, Sutter General and Sutter Memorial, and has provided healthcare to residents of Sacramento since 1923. Sutter Medical Center, Sacramento also includes Sutter Center for Psychiatry, providing psychiatric, mental health and chemical dependency services since 1958.
With 772 licensed beds, Sutter Medical Center, Sacramento is not for profit and fully accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations.
The RN has primary accountability for patient outcomes. As leader of the patient care team, the RN delegates, supervises and participates in patient care delivery. The RN coordinates care across all disciples, in collaboration with medical staff. The RN will function within the full scope of licensure, implement the nursing process to include the following: to assess patient and family needs; develop a plan of care based on assessment; coordinate and direct patient care in implementation of the plan of care; and, review and evaluate the effectiveness of the plan of care. The RN ensures the physiological, psychosocial, safety, learning, rehabilitative, spiritual, cultural and self-care needs of patients and their families are addressed. The RN will function in the charge nurse role as assigned per unit.
REQUIREMENTS
Education: Current California RN licensure or interim permit to practice registered nursing.
Experience: Acute care experience is preferred. Experience in area of clinical specialty is preferred.
Knowledge: Demonstrate basic nursing skills. Demonstrate effective English written and verbal communication skills.
Special Skills/Equipment: Valid Basic Life Support (BLS) for health care provider. Valid ACLS card. Completion of PALS within one year. Completion of MICN after one year of hire and recommendation from Nursing Director. Completion of hospital orientation Demonstrate basic math skills. Demonstrate basic computer skills. Demonstrate knowledge of community resources, legal policies relating to patient decisions and outcomes. Demonstrate knowledge of the performance standards of other nursing team members. Demonstrate skills in delegation, leadership and team management concept. Completion of unit specific orientation.
