RN Nurse

Under the guidance and supervision of the Director of Nursing, Charge Nurse, the Registered Nurse is responsible for professional nursing care to a designated number of patients and providing direction and supervision to non-professional personnel in the provision of direct patient care.

Completes nursing assessments in a timely manner and indicates potential problems.

Intervenes with minimal supervision. Intervenes independently.

Plans care for patients in conjunction with the health care team.

Communicates with patient/family regarding care plan and outcome goals; involves patient/family in developing plan of care and accomplishing outcome goals and/or consistently attends and actively participates in interdisciplinary team conferences.

Facilitates patient support/educational groups.

Provides patent care with minimal supervision. Adapts to assignments based on unit need.

Independently recognizes and assumes additional responsibility.

Administers, documents, observes, and reports effects of medications in a safe and accurate manner.

Demonstrates knowledge of specialty practice through clinical performance.

Communicates pertinent information to peers and physicians and acts as a patient advocate.

Anticipates patient needs and makes appropriate suggestions regarding treatment.

Performs in a competent, calm and professional manner during crises or emergency situations.
Performs proficiently. Performs expertly.

Demonstrates ability to perform procedures and skills in a safe and accurate manner.

Approaches interpersonal relationships in a manner that promotes cohesiveness, reduces conflict and provides for resolution with patients, families, visitors and consumers.

Demonstrates knowledge of hospital standards, policies and procedures.

Participates in Performance Improvement activities (e.g., data collection). Participates in more than three audits. Conducts quarterly analysis, report or follow-up for PI audit and/or participates in unit-specific project approved by nurse manager.

Complies with emergency and disaster plans and procedures.

Completes additional administrative tasks as assigned.

Additional areas of leadership include:
a) Participation in unit-specific projects approved by NM.
b) Active participation in planned community activities.
c) Active participation in nursing interdisciplinary committees requiring attendance in at least 75% of all meetings.
d) Active participation in nursing interdisciplinary committees providing committee reports to staff and/or manger.
e) Creation and development of unit-specific projects approved by NM.
REQUIREMENTS
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

BS/BSN, AD, or Diploma; with at least one (1) year nursing experience; preferably one (1) year of Chemical Dependency Nursing in addition to basic nursing experience; a current Florida Registered Professional Nurse License; successful completion of the Medication Test within the first four (4) weeks of employment; a current status in Basic Life Support for Healthcare Provider per Nursing Department policy. Meets and maintains Employee Health Office requirements.
Attends all required Focus Healthcare programs annually. Meets and maintains appropriate level of hospital and unit educational requirements. Completes clinical skills checklist and annual competencies.
