Shft: NightsJob Description:Leads a designated nursing area (part of a unit, entire unit, or entire facility). Oversees quality of patient care to assure delivery of individualized nursing care. Makes timely recommendations for improvement/revisions. Is a support to management leading the department.Oversees appropriateness of staff mix and makes timely adjustments and recommendations. Provides input for budget planning.Oversees patient care delivery to maximize patient/family satisfaction and minimize risk of injury or negative outcomes to patients or employees. Directs staff during emergency situations. Acts as an advocate for patients and family members. Acts as a resource for staff. Demonstrates effective management of rapidly changing situations.Assures timely, accurate, and complete assessment, intervention, and documentation in the medical record and care plan. Utilizes computerized assessments and care planning tools. Intervenes in level of care changes. Identifies and assists with staff education and training needs. Participates in writing and presenting employee appraisals. Provides clinical consultation to students.Maintains established department policies, procedures and objectives, concerning quality improvement, safety, environmental conditions and infection control.Responds to patient calls, anticipate individual patient needs, and assures patient safety and comfort through regular rounds, environmental maintenance, and other appropriate safety measures.Establishes and maintains interpersonal relationships with patients, visitors, and other team members while assuring confidentiality of patient information.
Experience
Required: One year experience in an area of specialty preferred. Cath Lab RNs must have 3 years of experience.Education/Licensure
Required: Completion of a Registered Nurse program in an accredited institution required.Current RN licensure in the State of Nebraska or Iowa, Nebraska and Iowa are compact states so license must be held in the state of residence.
Additional requirements include: Current BLS (Basic Life Support) or course completed within 6 months of hire.ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) course to be completed within 6 months of hire.Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Job requires continuous use of reading skills and verbal communication skills. Job requires frequent use of written communications skills. Job requires delegation, conflict resolution, individual and group interactions, time management, critical thinking and stress management. Incumbents must possess knowledge of how to provide care to a diverse population of patients and the ability to communicate and work with people from a variety of age groups, social strata and ethnic backgrounds.
