Shft: DaysJob Description:Performs/directs patient care services including, but not limited to, admission interview, assessment, accurate documentation and maintain timely patient flow. Triage patient care to ensure priority is provided to patients in an emergency situation. Ensures patient is appropriately prepared for care encounter. Prepares/obtains patient medical records and other information/documentation pertinent to patient encounter. Assists healthcare providers with exams, treatments, procedures and testing as directed. Ensures appropriate consent forms are obtained prior to the above. Schedules and provides patient instruction(s) for tests, treatments and hospital admissions, following correct insurance protocol. (Ie. Precertification, referrals, chart documentation, etc.) Provides patient and family education pertaining to healthcare management, disease process, treatment, test(s), medication and follow-up. Maintain/update patient education materials and consent forms. Triage patient telephone calls utilizing knowledge of professional nursing theory and practice. Receives, prioritizes and responds to incoming calls as appropriate.Experience Required: None. Preferred: One or more years of clinical nursing experience in an ambulatory health care setting.Education and/or Licensure-Certification:
Requires active licensure as a Registered Nurse in Nebraska or Iowa, Nebraska and Iowa are compact states, so licensure is required in the state of residence.
Current BLS certification required within Orientation/Probationary six (6) month period.Knowledge/Skill/Abilities:
Knowledge of:
professional nursing theory and practice

risk management, quality improvement and infection control
ICD-9 and CPT coding skills
insurance protocols
