RN-Clinical Resource Nurse

Hours: Per Week 40.00
Location: Midlands Hospital
Shft: DaysJob Description:Collaborates with physicians in the process of "updating" their orders. Reviews physician preference cards from assigned specialty and keeps them updated. Meets with vendors and serves as a liaison between them and management and physicians. Conducts inventory of specialty supplies on a bi-annual basis or as needed. Serves as a clinical preceptor/mentor for orientees being introduced to the specialty area providing them with clinical experiences that promote growth and competency. Presents training sessions on use of new equipment and instrumentation for nursing and technical staff members when the need arises. Reviews specialty case cart supplies, custom packs, etc. on a periodic basis for cost effectiveness. Circulates and scrubs for specialty procedures, as well as, other OR procedures.Experience: A minimum of 5 years experience in the Surgical Service or GI clinical setting, as appropriate.Education: Diploma from an accredited school of nursing.
Current RN licensure in Nebraska or Iowa, Nebraska and Iowa are compact states so must be licensed in the state of residence.
Current BLS completion card.
Current ACLS completion card for GI Clinic.
B.S.N. preferred or actively pursuing a degree in nursing or CNOR preferred.Knowledge/Skill/Abilities: Nursing experience that has demonstrated teaching skills, leadership and teamwork qualities. Knowledge of current nursing practices and trends in health care delivery--those related to perioperative nursing. Knowledge of AORN and Society of Gastroenterology Nurses and Associates (SGNA) standards, as appropriate.
Knowledge of organization and structure.
Knowledge of JCAHO standards.
Demonstrated skills in written and oral communications
Able to work with different levels of educational background.
