RESEARCH NURSE, RN, FT DAYS

Under direction of research director and principal investigator (PI), coordinates assigned administrative duties of the clinical study process in accordance with governmental guidelines. Provides clinical nursing care and education to patients, families, and other healthcare individuals involved in the research process.Requires a minimum education level of BSN.Preforms in-patient clinical trials sponsored by various pharmaceutical and device companies in various medical specialties: stroke, cardiology, interventional radiology, vascular surgery, orthopaedic surgery, etc. Therefore, the candidate must be willing to have a broad knowledge of multiple medical fields.A website with additional information can be located at: http://missionhospitals.org/research.htmResearch nurses (also referred to as study coordinators) have a broad range of responsibilities. It is probably 80% paperwork to 20% patient contact. This also lends itself to the candidate needing to be able to organize and prioritize appropriately. In addition, the candidate must be willing to travel - probably only 5% of the job. Pharmaceutical and device companies typically have meetings regarding their studies at least during start-up of the study.
