Knowledge of patient responses, side effects and proper dosages used in respiratory care. Able to communicate effectively with Physicians, patients, managers and the public. Ability to teach/instruct, assess and reassess others. Able to recognize and report abuse and neglect in patients. Knowledge of pulmonary function values and knowledge of generally accepted practices in respiratory care as prescribe by the physician. Delivers, set-up, maintains and utilizes evaluatory judgement from routine and non-routine prescription in utilization of respiratory care equipment.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1.Uses knowledge of anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, and emergency procedures to provide safe and effective patient care.
2.Maintains strict infection control techniques at all times.
3.Assists in providing inservices for peers and staff at least four times a year and as assigned.
4.Practices, develops and endorses customer service skills in relationships with internal and external customers.
5.Participate in Quality Improvement activities as assigned.
6.Other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION REQUIRED AND/OR PREFERRED: (list required and preferred separately)
Associate’s degree (A.A.) or equivalent two-year college required.LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION: (list required and preferred separately)
Current Texas RCP License required, BCLS certification required.EXPERIENCE REQUIRED OR PREFERRED: (list required and preferred separately)
Hospital and/or healthcare experience preferredSKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES:
Language Skills - Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to patients, visitors, physicians and other employees of the organization.
Mathematical Skills - Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ration and percentages.
Reasoning Ability - Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variable in standardized situations.
