Qualified Mental Retardation Professional
Responsible for assisting people in living their preferred lifestyle by developing a person centered support plan, consistently reviewing to ensure plan is being carried out and regularly reviewing options with people to see if their preferences or needs have changed.
REQUIREMENTS
Job Functions
•Develops and nurtures a relationship with each person by advocating on the person’s behalf, as well as supporting the person to advocate for themselves in the different services or support they receive.
•Develops a person centered support plan with each person and their circle of support that has specified training in skill areas , monitors to ensure followed, writes addendums as preferences or supports change, and completes monthly reviews of data from all program areas, etc.
•Completes annual self-assessment, system analysis, annual quality assurance contact form and assist with BASIS assessment.
•Supports each person to learn, know and exercise their rights. Reviews rights restrictions through Human Rights Committee for their approval annually and more frequent if required.
•Participates in training to be able to advocate for people by keeping informed of available supports, treatments, therapies, etc.
•Participates in quality reviews by various entities and regulatory agencies. Develops a plan of accomplishment in response to survey results and ensures compliance to regulations.
•Participates in the referral process by reviewing packets, participating in tours and facilitating admission/discharge meeting as needed.
Education and/or Experience:
A minimum of one years experience in the field of human services with people who have developmental disabilities and a Bachelor's degree in Human Service Field.
Certificates, Licenses or Registrations:
Valid driver's license and good driving record as defined by Bethesda policy. Current CPR, First Aid training and Mandt training.
Physical Demands:
Ability to work varied hours during the day and evening. Must be able to twist and bend, lifting up to 40 lbs. Initial physical and tuberculin testing indicating ability to fulfill job description and free of communicable disease. Tuberculin testing required annually.
Other Competencies (skills, abilities)
Must possess excellent interpersonal skills, have analytical skills, have the ability to creatively approach problem solving, have good moral character, have maturity and the ability to work independently, have respect for differences in people and have the ability to value and support each person's desires without imposing judgment. Computer literacy including using Microsoft Word and Excel is preferred.
