The Department of Orthopedic Surgery at Brigham and Women's Hospital is seeking a Physician Assistant with internal medicine experience to assist the attending orthopedic surgeons and orthopedic housestaff in the medical care of patients admitted to the orthopedic service. Duties include daily rounds with the multidisciplinary orthopedic care team, assisting in formulation and implementation of treatment plans, performing procedures within the PA scope of practice, ordering and interpreting appropriate diagnostic testing, consulting other medical services as appropriate, collaborating with the multidisciplinary team to ensure optimum patient care and comfort, and effectively communicating with the remainder of the orthopedic care team. Additionally, the Physician Assistant serves as first call for all non-trauma orthopedic patients admitted by the group of supervising attending orthopedic surgeons from the hours of 7am to 3pm. The position is a full time, fully benefited, salaried position and does not involve call duty.
Candidates must have a strong knowledge of internal medicine concepts including the management of patients with multiple co-morbidities. Experience in the care of these patients in the post-operative setting is optimal but not required. Candidates must be able to work autonomously and within a team setting. Strong organizational skills are required as the pace of the work is sometimes hectic and challenging. At time of application candidates should have graduated from an accredited Physician Assistant Program, must hold current NCCPA certification, must hold current Massachusetts licensure

1.Graduate of AAPA/NCCPA accredited Physician Assistant Studies Program
2.Holds NCCPA Board certification
3.Licensure as a Physician Assistant in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts
