As part of this partner ship, we have adopted initiatives designed to make life healthier, simpler and less intimidating.POSITION GOAL/JOB SUMMARYResponsible for the evaluation, planning, directing and administering of physical therapy modalities of treatment as prescribed by a licensed physician. Administers treatments and physical agents as prescribed by a referring physician in an effort to restore function while assisting patients to reach their maximum performance level, following injury, disease or physical disability. Coordinates delegate and supervises responsibilities assigned to supportive staff members. Ensures that patient charges are accurate and entered in a timely basis. Participates with assisting in the planning, training, and implementation of education for department and hospital staff as needed. Participates in all infection control, departmental equipment training,EDUCATION and REGULATORY REQUIREMNTS:Current California Physical Therapy Licensure, graduate of an approved school of Physical Therapy or graduate of accredited college or university with a certificate in Physical Therapy. Knowledge of physical medicine, modalities, anatomy and physiology. Knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and the ability to assess and interpret data, determine patient care requirements and determine patient care relative to the patientsƒ{age specific needs of the pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patient population. Demonstrates ability to meet performance requirements including some understanding of administrative methods. Knowledge of the disease process and related causative effects. Knowledge of infection control as related to rehabilitative medicine practice and equipment. Demonstrates ability to establish effective relations with physicians, patients, fellow workers and ancillary hospital personnel. Curent BCLS (CPR) certification.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS:Works with patients. Is required to perform lifting techniques associated with patient care using good body mechanics. Lifting activities may be repetitive in nature. Stands and walks a great deal of the time. May also be required to bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, twist and reach upon occasion. Frequent activity involving finger dexterity. Works inside. Varied temperature changes. Contact with water/liquids. Subject to noise and vibrations. Hazards include exposure to blood and body fluids, sharp objects and instruments, assorted chemicals as listed in the MSDS manual. Frequent contact with fumes, odors and exposure to vapors, mists and liquids. Uses of personal protective equipment: In this position, occupational exposure to communicable diseases and blood/bloodborne pathogens requires the use of personal protective equipment to include gloves, gowns, goggles, masks and radiation measuring devices, when in the clinical setting.California license, CPR, Hospital/Acute care preferred but not necessary
