Perioperative Autologous Transfusion Specialist

New York Blood Center, one of the nation’s largest community-based independent research, blood and clinical service organizations in the country, has two excellent opportunities available for full-time Perioperative Autologous Transfusion (P.A.T.) Specialists. The Specialists will cover the Hudson Valley South territory (the Bronx & Southern Westchester).

The selected candidates will be responsible for collecting blood that would usually be lost during or after surgery, washing and processing it, and returning it to the patient. This can reduce or eliminate the patient's need for blood from a volunteer donor, with a matching blood type. You will operate all applicable cell saver equipment to complete collection procedures and accurately label products for distribution to proper hospital personnel. Responsible for maintaining professional relationships and regular communications with NY Blood Center staff, the medical staff at each facility and other hospital staff. You will receive rigorous training and evaluation to meet the medical, technical and operational requirements established by NYBC as well as work under the direction of the surgeon and anesthesiologist.

We offer a starting salary of 30K (non-negotiable) and a competitive benefits package. Relocation will not be paid. REQUIREMENTS
Requires a High School diploma or GED equivalency. Excellent organizational and communication skills and attention to detail essential. A valid driver’s license, free of moving violations in the last three (3) years and access to a vehicle required. Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and on-call rotation. Must be able to travel to various hospitals, in the territory, for assigned cases. Previous hospital and/or medical experience preferred. The ideal candidate will have experience as a Dialysis Technician, O.R. Assistant, O.R. Technician, EMT, LPN, or RN.
