Per Diem Radiologic Technologist or Limited X Ray Tech

Job Duties 1. Prepares and positions patients for diagnostic x-rays films; determines exposures factors on the basis of height, weight, portion of body involved, and degree of penetration required.
2. Practices appropriate coning and shielding to reduce radiation exposure and fogging; maintains safety standards to guard against injury to patients and other staff personnel.
3. Sets controls and exposes the required number of type of film; takes special x-ray views as directed.
4. Mixes and administers barium by standard dilution during contrast media studies; recognizes symptoms of reactions to contrast media and reports such reaction to a physician.
5. Elicits the cooperation of patients by explaining procedures; attempts to comfort those who fear radiographic examination by giving assurance.
6. Evaluates the patients' condition and uses judgment in accurately positioning the patient for radiological procedures; uses supportive devices as necessary to obtain optional radiographs.
7. Cleans and maintains equipment; maintains films, chemical and general office supplies; reports broken or malfunctioning equipment; records patient information, film serial numbers, and number and type of views taken in patient records.


LICENSE AND CERTIFICATION

Certification as a Radiologic Technologist issued by the State of California, Department of Health, and certification with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.

Certification as a X Ray Technician issued by the State of California. Must have orthopedics experience for Limited X Ray Techs.
