Patient Care Tech II or Patient Care Tech III

These two positions, Patient Care Technician II and Patient Care Technician III perform patient care activities and other tasks to assist the nursing staff under the direction of a Registered Nurse.Key Responsibilities for both positions:
-Answers phone in a courteous, clear and timely manner
- Participates in department meetings, committees, and inservices
- Maintains accurate patient/unit records
- Acts as a liaison between physicians, nursing/hospital staff, families, guests, and patients
- Utilizes communication equipment effectively and relays information timely to appropriate personnel
- Receives, greets and assists guests/families in a timely and courteous manner
- Accurately and in a timely manner gathers and inputs information via the hospital computer systems as appropriate
- Communicates effectively
- Abides by department and hospital policies without exception
- Positively responds to and implements change
- Willingly performs other duties as assigned
Additionally, Patient Care Technician II performs two (2) of the following jobs routinely and Patient Care Technician III performs three (3) of the following jobs routinely.Education, Experience, Certification and Special training are different for each position noted below:Nurse Technician-Nurse Assistant
Job Summary
This position provides direct patient care as assigned. Performs simple procedures/treatments according to policies and procedures. Provides basic nursing care to assigned patients according to policies and procedures. Accurately documents treatments, procedures, observations, nursing care and patient activities on appropriate forms. Safely transports patients and items as directed according to policies and procedures. Correctly performs multiple procedures, treatments for assigned area according to policies and procedures. Accurately and efficiently performs "waived" testing as required
Job Requirements
Education: High School diploma or equivalent
Experience: 2 years of experience as NT/NA preferred
Licensure, Registry, or Certification Required: CNA certification upon hire or within 18 months of employment, BLS mandatory
Special Training: Completion of a SC DHHS approved CNA program. Successful completion of Nurse Aide/Tech orientationEKG Technician
Job SummaryThis position performs electrocardiogram as directed. Assists nurse with management of holter monitor.
Job Requirements
Education: High School diploma plus 1-2 years specialized training
Experience: Six months to one year as an EKG technician
Licensure, Registry, or Certification Required:
CCT certification preferred; BLS mandatory
Special Training: Knowledge of basic anatomy of cardiovascular system; ability to perform mobile EKG at bedsideMonitor Technician
Job SummaryThis position recognizes, reports and manages ECG arrhythmia data to the nurse and patient medical record.
Job Requirements
Education: High School diploma or equivalent and successful completion of approved arrhythmia course
Experience: Hospital experience preferred
Special Training: Successful completion of approved Arrhythmia courseUnit Secretary
Job SummaryThis position performs clerical duties for a nursing unit(s). Ensures that charts are current, complete and thinned as needed according to Policies and Procedures. Correctly schedules diagnostic procedures, exams, and special procedures in a timely manner. Accurately transcribes physician orders. Adequately orders, stores, and maintains supplies. Accurately informs nursing staff, physician and ancillary departments of patient admission, discharge, transfer or death in a timely manner.

Experience: Clerical experience preferred
Special Training: Successful completion of Unit Secretary orientationPhlebotomist
Job Summary: This position performs patient phlebotomy as assigned. Shows proficiency in blood collection and performs task in timely and accurate manner. Accurately and efficiently performs "waived" testing as required. Accurately and in a timely manner labels and enters lab orders for testing of lab specimens.
Job Requirements
Education: High School diploma or equivalent
Experience: Three months related experience or certificate in phlebotomy from accredited program
Special Training: Certificate from accredited phlebotomy program
