Shft: PRN/On-CallJob Description:Functions within the scope of practice of a Paramedic as defined within state regulations. Provides patient care and performs patient care procedures: EKG, Accu checks, CPR, crutches, ace bandage application, splint application, wound cleansing , dressing, immobilization, medication administration under medical/nursing direction IV insertions (plain) and re-assessment of patient condition and status. Responds to Code Blue in the ED and, when requested, on the hospital campus. Provides patient transportation within the Emergency Department and on the hospital campus as requested. WILL NOT perform triage, initial patient assessment, or provide dismissal instructions.Experience
Previous experience as a Paramedic is desirable. Previous clinical experience in an Emergency Department or hospital setting is desirable.Education/Licensure
Must have a valid certificate to function as a Paramedic in the state of Nebraska. Must have and maintain active membership on a Rescue Service in the state of Nebraska. Additional requirements include: BLS (Basic Life Support) provider or course completed within 6 months of hire. ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) course to be completed within 6 months of hire. PALS (Pediatric Cardiac Life Support) to be completed within 6 months of hire.Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Must be knowledgeable of current professional standards; must possess good communication skills--verbal and written; must demonstrate personal skills of trust, self-motivation, team orientation, and professionalism; must work well with others. Must be able to provide compassionate, empathetic patient care to all patients. Must understand common safety hazards and precautions to establish safe work environments and patient care environment. Must understand organizational policies, procedures, and regulations.
