Physician Assistant (PA) certification requiredThe Associate Staff provides medical services to individuals, families and groups, emphasizing health promotion and disease prevention, as well as the diagnosis and management of acute and chronic diseases. Services include, but are not limited to, ordering, conduction and interpreting appropriate diagnostic and laboratory tests, prescription of pharmacologic agents and treatments and nonpharmacologic therapies. Teaching and counseling individuals, families and groups are a major part of Associate Staff activities.The Associate Staff works autonomously as well as in collaboration with physicians and a variety of individuals to diagnose and manage clients' healthcare problems. The Associate Staff serves as a health care resource, interdisciplinary consultant and patient advocate.Education/Learning Experience
Required: Masters of Science in Nursing or AAPA approved program granted by an accredited college or university and is qualified for certification as an Advanced Practice Nurse Prescriber as defined in Chapter N8.02 of the Wisconsin Statutes and Administrative Code. Physician Assistants must be graduates of approved programs, be certified and/or licensed in the appropriate States and be able to prescribe according to regulations of the States.Work Experience:
Desired: Previous experience in health care, with preferred experience in direct patient care. An interest in both inpatient and outpatient medicine, knowledge of the neuro-muscularskeletal system, pain management and rehabilitation is also preferred.Skills/Knowledge
Required: Must be able to apply diverse principles of logic, medical or scientific thinking to a wide range of health care situations. Ability to apply accepted methods of treatment and creative new developments to health care problems. Must have strong communication skills and ability to teamwork, organize and prioritize.Licenses/Certifications
Required: For Clinical Nurse Specialists and Nurse Practitioners, current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Wisconsin as defined in Chapter N8.02 of the Wisconsin Statutes and Administrative Code, current certification from a national certification body approved by the Board of Nursing as a Clinical Nurse Specialist. Physician Assistants are requried to adhere to appropriate State regulations and be NCCPA Certified.Physical Requirements/Demands of the Position
Frequent: Standing, sitting, walking, reading. Occasional: Bending, twisting. Incidental: Kneeling, reaching above/below shoulder level, climbing. Finger dexterity; verbal speech ability; sound/texture perception and discrimination.
