Graduate of accredited school of surgical technology.
At least one year of operating room experience required.
Knowledge of specific procedures or specialties. Must be capable of prioritizing, planning and problem solving due to changing nature of work situation during surgical procedures.
Ability to recognize the need for immediate response during urgent or emergency situations.
Excellent professional communication skills in dealing with patients/families, medical staff, peers and ancillary staff.
Requires great degree of accuracy.
Responsibility for maintaining confidentiality of material and information. Must maintain and respect patient/family privacy and confidentiality at all times.
Knowledge of basic medical terminology, metric system, aseptic technique.
Reasoning, math and language skills at the high school plus technical training level.
