DIRECTOR EMERGENCY SERVICES – RN ED #458
(great opportunity to lead a tenured staff, and an ED with zero staff vacancies)
Assumes 24-hour responsibility for overall operation of Emergency Services including 60 FTE’s and a $3.5M budget. This is a Level II, 50,000 visits per year Emergency Department consisting of 20 ER beds, 4 Fast Track beds, and 6 holding beds. Collaborates with Director in the management of services within the department. Plans, organizes, directs, maintains, and evaluates patient care and unit activities within established policies, procedures and regulatory standards. Communicates policies/procedures and departmental/hospital information to staff, physicians and customers. Maintains the integrity of the service to meet all accreditation and licensure requirements.
Collaborates with Medical Director and Administrative Vice President to develop short and long range goals, objectives and plans for the service line.
Assumes 24-hour responsibility for the operations of assigned area(s). Leads the daily operations within the Department with the goal of providing highly valued service oriented health care to the customer.
Uses knowledge of fiscal management to develop departmental budgets, monitor expenses and justify variances. Collaborates to meet productivity goals.
Communicates service line, departmental and Hospital policies/procedures/information to staff, physicians and other customers.
Coordinates and participates in the orientation, training and competency review of all personnel and students within the Department. Identifies and ensures competencies and skill levels of all personnel within the department.
Develops, implements and analyzes the department’s performance improvement program and provides Director with appropriate reports.
Interviews candidates for positions and implements Human Resources policies at departmental level.
Demonstrated ability to be a positive change agent.
Is a positive role model and ensures a very customer driven environment.
ED currently has a zero staff vacancy rate with stable tenured staff. This position reports to the VP of Patient Care Services.
QUALIFICATIONS
RN with a Bachelor’s degree in nursing (BSN) or clinical related field required. Masters level degree in nursing, business or health related field required. Three or more years of progressive management experience preferred. Clinical ED nursing experience required.

COMPENSATION
$63,000 – 74,000 annually

NURSE MANAGER EMERGENCY SERVICES AND TRAUMA - RN #429
This 40-bed, 70,000 visit Emergency Department is in need of direction from an experienced manager to oversee the services provided to its:
23-bed Level II Trauma Center
4 trauma/critical care beds
6 cardiac beds
13 unmonitored beds
50,000 annual visits
8-room Fast Track treatment
an estimated additional 20,000 visits/year
9-bed Observation Unit
Position will manage a 5.8M budget/year and supervise 88 FTEs. The position reports to the Director of Emergency Services.
QUALIFICATIONS
RN with a BSN in Nursing is required and a masters or MSN is preferred (will also consider BSN candidates working on/willing to get Masters degree) and two years of leadership experience in emergency services. Previous Trauma center experience preferred.
FACILITY

A 40-bed Emergency Department is in need of direction from an experienced Emergency Department Director to manage the services provided to its:
23-bed Level II Trauma Center
4 trauma/critical care beds
6 cardiac beds
13 unmonitored beds
50,000 annual visits
8-room Fast Track treatment
an estimated additional 20,000 visits/year
9-bed Observation Unit
Position will manage a 5.8M budget/year and supervise 88 FTEs. The position reports to the VP of Patient Care Services and is part of the Senior Management Team at this facility. A $4.2 million expansion is planned that will double the number of treatment beds by the year 2007.
QUALIFICATIONS
RN with a Masters degree in Nursing (MSN) or related field and five years of management experience in emergency services. Previous Level II Trauma experience preferred.
