24 hour accountability for defined areas of responsibility. Uses the Nursing Process to achieve identified goals, and manage Nursing Practice and Operations, which are characterized by both increase complexity of clinical decision-making and enhanced skill in nursing management. Provides leadership in the day to day operations of the unit. Assumes accountability for staffing and scheduling. Ensures that assignments of staff reflect their appropriate utilization, patient care needs, compliance with staffing guidelines. Fiscally responsible for planning, implementing, monitoring and ensuring the budget for their area of responsiblity. Allocates available resources to promote effective, efficient, customer focused and high quality nursing care.
Knowledgeable in nursing practice, and demonstrates age related competencies for patients 0 - 21 years of age.


Graduate of an NLN accredited School of Nursing, BSN preferred, MS in Nursing or related field highly desirable.

Current and unrestricted license to practice as a registered nurse in the State of Maryland.
Certification in Nursing Administration highly desirable.
Current CPR.

Five years of applicable clinical nursing experience, two years of which is in pediatrics.

One year nursing management experience preferred.
