National Accounts Sales Director
Summary
The National Accounts Director of Sales will be responsible for the operation and management of the Health Plan’s national sales department in the market. Responsible for recruiting, hiring, and developing sales staff to meet regional and corporate goals. Responsibilities include the development of account services staff to ensure effective support of sales staff as well as providing quality service to group customers and subscribers. Develops strategies for acquisition and retention of business; keep abreast of market conditions and make recommendations to address market needs. Maintains key account relationships; be an active and involved community leader. Is responsible for all interactions involving Health Plan’s complex National Account Book.
Essential Responsibilities/Accountabilities
- Responsible for the operation and performance of the Health Plan’s sales staff within all regions. This includes recruitment, evaluation, and training of staff.
- Responsible for achieving retention and growth goals set at the regional and corporate level. Motivates, counsels, and develops staff to achieve established goals.
- Represents sales at various meetings, on task forces, and during strategic planning meetings.
- Interacts with Management personnel within divisions to implement operational changes and resolve outstanding issues.
- Maintains current knowledge of all market trends and activities in health care.
- Actively involved in development of new product designs, sales strategy, underwriting guidelines, and operational policies.
- Develops, implements, and monitors sales plans.
- Creates and conducts training modules for the entire region as needed. Minimum two per year.
- Liaison between the regions sales force and RMSCO / EBS Benefit services divisions.
- Reflecting full regard for the Corporate Affirmative Action Program will provide supervisory services to assigned personnel. Such services include, but are not limited to, selection, placement, training, performance appraisal, counseling, enforcing rules and regulations, application of approved discipline, monitoring attendance and punctuality and recommendations relative to changes in status.

- Conducts periodic staff meetings to include timely distribution and education related to departmental and Ethics/Compliance information.
- Regular reliable attendance is expected and required
- Performs other duties as assigned by management.
REQUIREMENTS
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business or related discipline required.
- Valid NYS Accident and Health License within six months of employment required. Employees without a license are not eligible for any sales incentive awards or contests. Any sales made while not licensed are not eligible for incentive compensation.
- Minimum of five years of professional sales experience, minimum of three years in a management capacity.
- In depth knowledge of sales management practices. Strong communication, analytical, problem solving, public speaking, interpersonal and selling skills are essential.
- An extensive knowledge of health care delivery, healthcare financing, the principles of insurance and the health insurance marketplace is required.
- Must have experience and broad understanding of various functional units within an organization. Must have ability to resolve issues with other department leaders.
- Must have proven experience recruiting, hiring and developing staff to meet established objectives.
- Must have a flexible schedule for travel.
