We are currently seeking a Nuclear Medicine Technologist in our Diagnostic Imaging Department.
In this role you will perform routine and specialty diagnostic Nuclear Medicine studies, including PET, following established protocols and document appropriatelyResponsibilities:
Assist Nuclear Medicine physicians in preparing and administering therapeutic radiopharmaceuticals to patients.
Perform diversified diagnostic procedures utilizing radiopharmaceuticals; in vivo and in vitro detection and measurement of radioactivity to assist the nuclear medicine physician in the diagnosis and treatment of disease.
Demonstrates basic knowledge in nuclear medicine imaging and/or laboratory procedures, such as: Cardiac, Total Body Imaging- Musculoskeletal, Tumor, Infection; Endocrine; SPECT (Single Photon Emission Computerized Tomography) scans- Cardiac, Musculoskeletal, Tumor Infection; Gastrointestinal, etc.
Demonstrates basic image analysis and processing.
Assists the nuclear medicine physician and Nuclear Pharmacist in preparing and administering therapeutic radiopharmaceuticals for injection or ingestion, following specific procedures, after verifying the patient's drug dosage, in accordance with the Nuclear Medicine Quality Management Program.
Communicates and interfaces with patients and the nuclear medicine medical staff to ensure high-quality patient care. Maintains patient confidentiality. Explains testing protocol to patients prior to initiating procedures to help alleviate patient fears and elicit support.Qualifications
Graduate of an American Medical Association approved program in Nuclear Medicine Technology, or equivalent .
Licensure in the state of Maryland as a Nuclear Medical Technologist and registered by CNMTB or ARRT(N) is required.
Basic knowledge of the principles of nuclear medicine and equipment operations, including radiation safety procedures. Knowledge of clinical applications and operation of nuclear imaging computer systems; gamma cameras; counting equipment such as well counters, thyroid probes, dose calibrators; and radiation survey equipment.
