Mental Health Support Specialist

Shangri-La Corporation is currently accepting applications for Mental Health Support Specialists for our new Residential Treatment Home opening in Albany.FUNCTION:
The MHSS is responsible for delivery of services to individuals residing in a Residential Treatment Home. It is the responsibility of the MHSS to provide direct supportive services to residents of the home, who have chronic/ persistent mental illness and intellectual disabilities.WORKING CONDITIONS:
Position is hourly with a work schedule of up to 40 hours per week. The scheduled hours will be allocated as required to fulfill the position’s responsibilities, which are subject to change. Work schedules are subject to change as approved by the Team Leader and/or Director. Compensation is established by the Shangri-La Corporation.Work is largely indoors, in a home-like environment.

WAGE:$10.70 to $12.65 per hour + benefits

REQUIREMENTS
Minimum of two (2) years education and/or experience in mental illness, emotional/behavioral difficulties or other related conditions. Must possess the skills necessary to provide therapeutic interventions with individuals with mental disorders and to understand treatment terminology.Requires the continuous, effective and professional use of communication skills and organizational skills. Must be able to initiate and maintain positive relationships with program participants, team members and all stakeholders. Must be capable of clear communication, verbally and in writing with persons of varying levels of education, experience and comprehension. Requires excellent telephone and organizational skills. Requires the frequent use of decision-making skills with the ability to exercise consistently sound judgment. Requires frequent flexibility, patience and ongoing use of conflict resolution. Also requires reading and writing skills and occasional use of basic math skills.
Continuously requires using hands and fingers. Must be able to work frequently while sitting, standing, walking, bending, crouching, kneeling, driving and carry items weighing up to 25 pounds. Occasionally required to work while pushing, pulling, reaching, stretching or twisting.Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds and to transfer up to 75 pounds occasionally.Must have current Oregon Drivers License and acceptable driving record.
