Hours: Day ShiftDescription:The Mental Health Clinical Therapist utilizes skills as a mental health counselor and knowledge of psychopathology, assessment, group dynamics, and crisis intervention to provided individual, group, and family therapy to hospitalized patients within the in-patient acute psychiatric setting. The therapist will work collaboratively within the multidisciplinary team to provide evaluation, assessment and treatment of patients that are experiencing a wide range of emotional/psychiatric issues including depression, anxiety, addiction, personality disorder and acute life stressors/crisis. Treatment strategies may include Cognitive-Behavioral principles and techniques and psychoeducation. The therapist may utilize verbal discussion and/or written exercises to explore such issues as hopelessness, suicidal ideation/behavior, low self-esteem, anger, violence, bereavement, and guilt. The therapist will assist the patient in formulating and reaching both short and long-term goals and transferring gains to the home environment.Qualifications: -Master’s Degree in Counseling Psychology, Social Work or related field
At least two years of experience working within an acute inpatient psychiatric setting
Knowledge of a wide range of psychopathology and mastery of a coherent theory and practice of therapy
Previous experience preferred in the areas of group dynamics and group facilitation
Current New York State Certification of Licensure in Counseling, Social Work or related field
Behavior Management Techniques (BMT)
CPR Certification
Basic Computer Knowledge

Completion of probationary period
