Medication Trained Staff

The MTS will be responsible for administration of prescribed medications and approved treatments to assigned clients. The MTS will be responsible for duties surrounding medication per DPW 6400 Regulations including treatments, observation and reporting, documentation, and completion of all aspects of the DPW- Medications Administration Training for Staff of Community Facilities Training Program as trained through the MAM-MEdications Administration Manual. The MTS will communicate with nursing personnel regarding all issues related to the client's health, medication and/or related behaviors. The MTS will successfully complete all aspects of the Medication Administration Program prior to any implement of the MTS responsibilities. The MTS will also be responsible for the care and supervision of clients with developmental disabilities and associated disorders, helping clients in a positive, respectful manner that recognized individual differences, models appropriate behaviors, and contributes to the therapeutic community.
REQUIREMENTS
High school diploma and 12 semester credit hours required. Two years experience working with developmental disabilities population preferred, and experience with medically fragile clients or in a health care setting preferred. (Will consider 5 years experience with developmental disabilities population in lieu of credit hours. High School diploma required.) Certification in CPR and First Aid is required. A demonstrated ability to appropriately acknowledge and respond to the multiple needs of the population served is required; effective communication and interpersonal skills are essential. Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds, pursue clients on foot, physically restrain (with appropriate training), bend, squat, and reach. To drive a program vehicle, the employee must show proof of valid driver's license and successfully complete Woods Services driver training program.
