Trade School certificate requiredThe Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) is responsible for processing and analyzing blood/body fluids for a variety of constituents in a timely, accurate and efficient manner. Performs a variety of laboratory procedures and related duties that may include instructing students and staff in technical procedures and theory. May also perform other duties and functions involved in patient care.THIS POSITION WILL FLOAT WITHIN 4 OF GUNDERSEN LUTHERAN'S REGIONAL CLINICS WHICH ARE LOCATED IN SOUTHEAST MN, NORTHEAST IA AND WESTERN WI.Education/Learning Experience:
Required: Associate DegreeMedical Laboratory Technician.Work Experience:
Desired: Prior experience in a clinical Laboratory.Skills/Knowledge:
Required: Analyzes, interprets and evaluates complex information. Demonstrates courteous and timely response to customer needs. Communicates thoughts clearly and effectively. Is approachable, listens to others, and is open to feedback. Acts cooperatively to achieve results in an environment of mutual respect. Desired: Prior experience with laboratory information system.Licenses/Certifications:
Desired: Medical Laboratory Technician (ASCP) or HHS (HEW).Physical Requirements/Demands of the Position
1. Exposure to communicable disease, latex, electrical hazards and chemical/cleaning agents.
2. Frequent exposure to mechanical devices, electrical devices, dust, chemicals, toxic waste and infectious disease agents.
3. Carrying and/or pushing and pulling objects weighing less that 40 pounds.
4. Performs detailed tasks, and often subjected to interruptions and changing work priorities.
5. Ability to stand approximately 75% of workday.
