We have an excellent opportunity for a Manager, Strategic Publications at our corporate headquarters in Lincolnshire, IL.
You will perform the following functions in this key role:
Plan and successfully implement an integrated communications program that includes approval and release of publications, newsletters, and other presentations.
Lead Publication Team to solidify publication strategies and produce publications that fulfill commercialization and development needs. Publication Team members include representatives from various departments including TGRD, Outcomes Research, Statistics, Regulatory, Medical Information and Marketing.
Manage a team of in-house medical writers and editors, in addition to external freelancers and vendors.
Achieve journal submissions of all completed studies according to agreed-upon plans.
Ensure strategic placement and timing of publications (i.e., abstracts, posters, prime papers, review articles, etc).
Coordinate the planning, writing, and editing for content, and review clinical and preclinical publications for use in scientific forums.
Develop and manage a budget for the successful implementation of a strategic publications plan.
Establish processes to ensure appropriate corporate review of all manuscripts, review articles, abstracts, etc.
Serve as the MSA expert for internal and external customers regarding publication guidelines and publication-related SOPs.
Exhibit appropriate resource planning to ensure adequate staffing for successful implementation of strategic publications plans.
Participate as a key member of the various TPNA project teams.
REQUIREMENTS
You must possess the following requirements and experience to succeed in this position:
Bachelor' degree, preferably in a scientific discipline.
Minimum of 7 years pharmaceutical or biomedical writing experience.
3-5 years of publications planning experience within the pharmaceutical industry including submission processes for publications.
Significant experience with peer-reviewed scientific publications.
Knowledge of pertinent external guidelines related to publications, and current standards of good publication practice.
