Manager, Clinical Trials

Position manages department employees in order to provide research services to private practce physicians, hopsitalists, or USC faculty physicians in a quality and cost-effective way. Provides realistic project budgets for individual research projects to ensure that Palmetto Health costs are adequately covered and funds are brought into the organization to cover the costs. Works with Director of Research, Deputy Director of SCCC, Associate Dean for Clinical Research & Special Projects, USC-SOM, as well as various depatments of USC in order to ensure that all aspects of a clinical research project are handled appropriately. Works with HSSC on statewide coooperative trials. Forms relationships with pharmaceutical companies and contract research organizations to bring clinical trial opportunities to Palmetto Health. Works closely with Palmetto Health Tissue Bank Manager and Director.Key Responsibilities:- Provides effective leadership by coordinating and integrting services within their department, with other departments and with the hospital's primary functions.- Implements policies and procedures that guide and support the provision of the services.- Manages departmental budget including processes to monitor operational and capital costs.- Manages department human resources by: determining qualifications, competence and performance expectations; implementing and monitoring staffing plans; providing orientation, in-service training and continuing education of all persons in the department and applying policies/procedures pertaining to human resources management.- Continuously assesses and improves the department's performance by designing operational processes, monitoring performance through data, analyzing the data, implementing sustainable performance improvement, and participating in multi-disciplinary interdepartmental PI activities.- Manages information by providing information systems and data management for department operations and performance improvement.- Manages the environment (of care) by developing, implementing and monitoring processes to reduce and control environmental hazards and risks; preventing accidents and injuries and maintaining safe conditions for patients, staff and visitors.Palmetto Health offers a competitive salary, great benefits and a rewarding work environment. REQUIREMENTS
Education: RN degree, Bachelor's Degree preferred, training in clinical trial research. Continuing education in all aspects of health care management preferred.Experience: Minimum 4 years experience in Clinical Research, including experience working with clinical data collection, Clinical Resea4rch Associate experience in industry preferred. Management experience preferred.Type and Number of Employees Supervised: 14 professionals and support staffLicensure, Registry or Certification Required: Has certification or eligible for Certified Clinical Research Professional (SoCRA) or Certified Clinical Research Coordinator (ACRP)Special Training: Human studies protection and Hazmat training will be provided.
