MR/CT Technologist

Shft: EveningsJob Description:Prepares room, equipment, contrast media and supplies necessary for each procedure. Provides an explanation of procedures and assumes care for physical/psychological needs of the patient while in radiology. Screens all patients for contraindications that would prohibit them from undergoing an MR scan. Obtains clinical information and indication for all CT and MR scans. Completes appropriate patient history/clinical data sheets as indicated by policy.
Performs diagnostic CT and MR services: Operates CT and MR imaging equipment. Operates other equipment/accessory devices as necessary. Positions patient and immobilizes patient when necessary. Selects proper technical factors and imaging modes for all scans. Modifies routine procedures and factors as required by patient condition. Prints scans utilizing laser images and insures proper identification and data are present. Evaluates scan for technical quality. Practices aseptic technique and infection control principles as necessary. Assists with administration of contrast media. Assists physicians with diagnostic and invasive CT procedures. Performs venipuncture and administers contrast media under direction of physician.Experience: 1-2 years as a registered technologist, preferred.Education/Licensure: Graduate of AMA approved program in Radiologic Technology or equivalent. Must possess a current state license to practice as a radiographer.Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Must possess a strong knowledge of human structure & function, cross sectional anatomy, principles of CT and MR scanning, selection of scan parameters, and preparation & administration of contrast media for MR and CT procedures. Proven ability to handle job related stress, must be able to handle multiple tasks at one time. Possess effective written and oral communication skills, manual dexterity, reading skills, team building skills and be people orientated.
