Shft: DaysJob Description:Answer telephone and responds as appropriate per clinic guidelines. Triage and transfer calls in a timely manner. Assists with patient appointment activities
schedule/reschedule and input follow-up patient appointments; follow-up on no show appointments-establishes daily communication with clinical staff to coordinate patient and physician/provider scheduling for timely patient flow
provides patient confirmation calls per clinic specifications
appropriately schedule drug representatives for physician/provider interaction
schedule/verify physician/provider meetings to ensure reserved time for hospital rounds, nursing home visits, CME and out of office time, etc., upon request. Provide secretarial support to physician/provider(s), upon request, up to and including personal scheduling.Greets and directs patients and visitors in a prompt and courteous manner.Records messages accurately and legibly.Experience Required:Three or more years in computer, math, clerical/business with customer service emphasis in an ambulatory health care setting; CPT, ICD-9 coding experience; knowledge of insurance protocols; knowledge of medical terminology.Preferred:All Required experience components with supervisory and/or clinic operations experience in an ambulatory health care setting.Education Required:High school diploma; GED equivalent with an aptitude in math, office/clerical skills, computer applications. Preferred:Community/Business College Administrative Assistant Certification with medical terminology course.Knowledge/Skill/Abilities:
Knowledge of:
business office functions (ie. phone systems, typing, alpha/numeric filing systems, customer service, cash handling, office equipment, computer applications, etc.)
personal management skills and tools
legalities related to personnel issues (ie. ADA, discrimination, sexual harassment, etc.)
organization policies, regulations and procedures
risk management; quality improvement
insurance protocols
ICD-9, CPT coding.
