Shft: DaysJob Description:Performs infection and patient safety surveillance activities to identify trends or problems and opportunities for improvement. Reports findings and recommendations to the Operations Director (Manager) of Performance Improvement, System Consultant, Infection Control and Epidemiology, System Consultant, Safety, appropriate committees, individuals or outside agencies as appropriate. Collaborates with physicians in any investigations, studies and other activities related to the improvement in infection control and patient safety practices. Collaborates with unit Operational Directors in managing, educating, mentoring and evaluating the unit specific Infection Control and Patient Safety Associates. Maintains the organization in regulatory and disaster readiness. Evaluates effectiveness of programs through periodic drills and inspections. Participates in, and is an integral part of a multi disciplinary process for handling infectious materials and waste.Experience: Minimum of three year's experience in infection control related fields.Education/Licensure: Registered Nurse, Medical Technologist, other Allied Health Professional or Physician¿s Assistant or a Bachelor¿s degree in a field related to infection control, safety or health is preferred. Any equivalent combination of education and/or experience will be considered.
Preferred: Infection Control Certification (CIC) or related health-care certification.Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Must be able to effectively operative in a multi-manager supervisory structure. Must possess strong knowledge of infection principles and strategies, and be well-versed on the ethical implications, clinical ramifications in adverse Healthcare situations; excellent management skills; computer literacy; excellent communication skills; an ability to present complex issues in an understandable fashion; strong change management skills; must demonstrate personal traits of a high level of motivation; team orientation; professionalism; trust; and place a high value on treating others with dignity and respect.
