Hays Medical Center is a 160-bed not-for-profit facility employing over 1,100 Associates. This tertiary care system offers both general and
specialty services with the most advanced technology in central and western Kansas.

We have completed a $32 million hospital renovation project, a $15 million Wellness Center, and a $17 million Rehabilitation Center that houses our DeBakey Heart Institute. HMC was recently honored as “the best in the nation” for cardiac services by Health Grades, Inc. for 2007 and also rated in the top 10% in the nation for joint replacement
surgery. HMC does approximately 200 open heart surgeries per year and has a state-of-the art ICU and CPCU units which work with VISICU on our electronic ICU program. Other services include a twenty-four hour inpatient pharmacy and ER, complete imaging services, Cancer Center and electronic medical records.

The city of Hays is midway between Denver and Kansas City on Interstate 70 and has a population of 23,000. Education is a top priority with a nationally recognized public school system, private Catholic schools and a four year university, Fort Hays State. There is hunting, fishing, private and public golf courses, and other cultural events sponsored by the university which provide a vast quality of entertainment for all ages.
