The Emergency Service Assistant functions as a patient care team member under the direction of a registered nurse or emergency room physician and according to established department wide policies and procedures. The Emergency Service Assistant performs duties and routine tasks such as taking vital signs, collecting specimens, weighing patients, as well as collecting equipment and supplies for diagnostic and intervention procedures performed by the registered nurse or physician.
REQUIREMENTS
. High School graduate or equivalent required.2. Certificate in basic nursing assistant program, medical assistant program, emergency technician program preferred. Experience or knowledge in basic patient care methods, medical terminology, procedure and techniques as typically obtained in an undergraduate nursing program. A nurses health association health services course preferred.3. Ability to read, write and understand English required: proficiencies in other languages preferred.4. Ability to perform simple arithmetic calculations required for proper patient identification, obtaining and recording or weights and vital signs.
