Shft: DaysJob Description:Designs a treatment plan by means of computer and/or manual computation that will deliver a prescribed radiation dose and field placement technique, considers dose limiting structures, and documents doses in accordance with the radiation oncologists¿ prescription. Oversees treatment simulations and tumor localization on imaging systems, including computed tomography and MRI, for radiation therapy treatment planning. Provides technical assistance to the technologist performing simulations. Assists in the planning or fabrication of moulds, casts, immobilization devices, compensating filters, custom shields, wedges, and other beam modifying devices. Assists the radiation therapists with the implementation of treatment plans, including the correct use of immobilization devices, compensators, wedges, field arrangement, or any treatment variable associated with the treatment and records such information in the patient¿s departmental chart.Experience: Two years experience in a radiation therapy department performing dosimetry functions.Education/Licensure/Certification: The dosimetrist position requires current Certification in Medical Dosimetry as a CMD by the Medical Dosimetry Credentialing Board, or Current ARRT Board Certification in Radiation Therapy ARRT-T with a minimum of two years experience in dosimetry will be considered.Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Knowledge of radiation physics, radiation safety practices, anatomy and physiology, medical terminology, oncology, medical dosimetry, and computer skills are required. This position requires skill and knowledge in the operation and utilization of radiation-producing equipment, physics related equipment, general patient care equipment, and general office equipment. The incumbent must have strong verbal and written communication skills. The dosimetrist must be very familiar with computer software and will be trained to use the following systems: Elekta PrecisePlan, CMS Focus, Nucletron Plato, and IMPAC. The dosimetrist will be required to be detailed attentive and have the ability to communicate with a patients, physicians, colleagues, staff, and vendors. Absolutely must have the ability to be a team player.
