Position Summary:The Director of Patient and Family Services represents the American Cancer Society as a leader of the Agency and reports directly to The Regional VP. This position is responsible for the management and delivery of the Priority Patient & Family Services' educational programs: Look Good …Feel Better, I Can Cope and Patient Navigation. Identifies, cultivates and manages key relationships with the leading hospital cancer centers and community organizations in the Region. As a Community Mobilizer, you will be responsible for integrating and coordinating division-wide efforts to mobilize volunteers and communities, participate in the Eastern Division's special events and vital outreach activities, serve as an expert resource for motivating staff and volunteers and establish a team atmosphere conducive to sharing our "best practices" and other resources as appropriate, and provide leadership and coach others in support of our mission, goals and strategic outcome.Essential Functions:Ensures consistency in the delivery of Patient & Family Services programs and servicesCollaborates with all Cancer Control Directors in delivery of divisional programsCo-manages the department Coordinators in regions with multiple DirectorsConducts continual needs assessment throughout region to identify patient & family resources and gaps in the communityImplement survivor-oriented educational programs.Recruit, train and maintain volunteers for regions survivor-oriented programsInteracts directly with patients and their familiesIntervenes and assumes responsibility for resolution when patient service calls reach a complicated or crisis levelBuild collaborative relationship with all ACS functionsBuild collaborative relationships with health care and community based agencies.Collaborate with Corporate Relations staff to cultivate relationships
Develop a corporate component for Community Action Plans ActionManage field supervision of an undergraduate or graduate student in social work.Some evening and weekend meetings and/or program participation requiredParticipate in Making Strides Against Breast Cancer, Relay For Life and other ACS events/activities as appropriate.
REQUIREMENTS
LCSW and/or BS in Social Work or Nursing, with a specialty in Oncology, Masters preferred.3-5 years experience with program planning, development and evaluation of educational support programs for cancer patients and their familiesProven management skillsAbility to work with diverse populationsFine tuned communication skills, interpersonal, active listening and writtenAbility to prioritize and multi-task management of projectsStrong networking skillsStrong and effective verbal and writing communication and listening skillsComputer proficiencySome Travel requiredMulti-lingual preferred
