The Diabetic Nurse Clinician develops and implements programs to advance and improve the care and education given to patients throughout the St. Agnes continuum. Special focus is given to the support of nurses providing self-education for patients/families in the community. Guidance and education is given using initiative and judgment that is based on specialized nursing knowledge. Excellent communication and customer service skills are key to this position.

The Diabetic Nurse Clinician acts as leadership in the coordination of the diabetes education program. Ensuring the adherence to the National Standards and the American Diabetes Association requirements to obtain and maintain recognition. Guides the implementation of new diabetes educational services and programs. Ensures appropriate scheduling of classes and community related events.
REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's degree in Nursing from an accredited School of Nursing. Current RN Licensure in Maryland; Certification as Diabetes Educator (CDE).

(3) years experience in Medical-Surgical Nursing.
Academic preparation and/or experience in diabetes program management.
Academic preparation and/or experience in the care of persons with chronic disease.
Previous experience in diabetes program management.
Ability to develop, implement and evaluate new diabetes programs.
