Location: Novation’s Corporate Headquarters in Irving, Texas
Internal Contact: William A. Laws, Jr. @X1230This opportunity will report to the Manager, Custom Contracting and Standardization. The opportunity will be responsible for identifying and quantifying cost reduction opportunities for the Alliances' (VHA / UHC) largest strategic IDNs through customized partnership agreements (i.e. ProvSource with Providence Health System, Mayo Foundation, Sentara Health System, Baptist Memorial Health Care Corporation, Allina Hospitals and Clinics, etc.) This position is critical for strengthening the Alliances' relationships with these valuable shareholders through collaboration with VHA / UHC field team, VHA local offices, Sr. Directors of Supply Chain Management and member Executive Supply Chain managers. Primary tasks of this position focus on identifying and validating supply cost reduction opportunities through: competitive price comparisons, price parity and contract tier maximization, contract conversion prioritization, product standardization and custom contracting analysis. In summary, this position functions as a consultant by using customer-purchasing line-item data to formulate recommendations across the IDNs' supply chain (products, services) for reducing supply chain costs by expanding member participation in Novation contracts, programs, or creation of custom contracts, thereby significantly contributing to the achievement of several VHA, UHC and Novation multi-year goals.Key Responsibilities:Implement and manage a process that involves line-item analysis of current member purchases to identify and quantify supply chain cost reduction opportunities and return on investment using product conversion, price tier maximization, and product standardization for large key strategic partnership members (IDNs)Plan and organize activities, assignments and priorities of self and others to develop member standardization plans. This employee in this position will function as a consultant to analyze materials purchases in order to provide focus on savings opportunities, to increase Novation contract usage and to identify member cost reduction opportunities. Position may require travel to customer locations to collect information about contracts, pricing and purchase history in order to complete analysis.Use excellent communication skills to establish good interpersonal relationships with members, suppliers and internal staff to develop and implement solutions that increase loyalty for Novation contracts and services.Communicate savings and cost reduction initiatives to a variety of audiences (such as member executives, suppliers, VHA / Novation account managers and senior management) periodically through written reports, oral presentations, meeting participation and "one-on-one" conversations.Maintain high level of knowledge and understanding about Novation supply chain contracts and offerings and uses this skill to deliver additional value that supports member goals, increases supplier market share and generates new revenue.Identify and understand issues, problems and opportunities that enhance or constrain the acceptance and / or delivery of cost reduction solutions, then decide a course of action to overcome obstacles and achieve mutual goals.This position will meet the objectives of the Custom Contracting department to support partnership models with large integrated delivery networks (IDNs) including ProvSource (Providence Health System), Mayo Foundation, Sentara Health System, Baptist Memorial Health Care Corporation, Allina Hospitals and Clinics, etc. This employee in this position will function as a consultant to analyze line-item materials purchases in order to provide focus on opportunities, to increase Novation contract usage and to identify member cost reduction opportunities. The person in this position must have excellent organizational skills that will require reviewing and maintaining knowledge and database information about new custom and existing Novation / VHA contracts to perform analysis.This program is a new strategy that provides a framework to develop stronger and more relevant supply chain relationships with high profile and valuable shareholders, which are an integral part of our multi-year goals. This program significantly increases the Alliances' and Novation's value to its most important members and affects substantial change in the way the company will deliver customer satisfaction and commitment. Highly effective interpersonal and communication skills are vital for success in this position. The person in this position will interface with multiple and diverse audiences across the healthcare organization including the executive level. This employee will also have frequent and in-depth interaction with both VHA and UHC field teams, corporate departments and VHA local offices.
REQUIREMENTS
Additional Qualifications:Prefer Bachelor’s degree, in marketing, finance, accounting or business;
Proven experience with healthcare operations and processes;In-depth and broad knowledge of healthcare supply chain management, Novation contracts, alliance organizational structure and e-commerce;
Exhibits strong organizational and communication skills;High level of competence with the technology that enables the development of advanced solutions for all business processes (Brio, Marketplace @Novation tools, contract catalog (NC2), and Access, etc.);
3 to 5 years of progressive analytical experience;Excellent verbal, written, and presentation communication skills;
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite of software (Word, Excel and PowerPoint);
Ability to take initiative in a matrix environment;
Possess an understanding of financial analysis and quantitative/qualitative assessment of data;
Understanding of the health care environment and key strategic initiatives of Novation; and10% travel may be required
